Each week we'll paint a picture together. We'll mix up our styles from realistic to loose paintings. Before class, you'll receive an email with a photo reference and a sketch along with information on the supplies (paint colors, masking, brushes, etc.) that we'll use. As always, you'll be encouraged to paint in your own style (different colors, different style, etc.) Mostly we'll share ideas and painting tips and have fun along the way.

As society becomes more impersonal and politically divided, it is hard for the economy to deal with climate change, artificial intelligence, aging population, increasing income inequality and numorous other issues. This makes us concerned that our social order is at risk. But we can be hopeful that our future economy can survive and thrive. Formal economics studies are not a prerequisite for this course.

In this course, we will begin by exploring the Jewish mindset just before Jesus' arrival. From there, we will trace Jesus' travels and key events — supported by maps — followed by Paul's missionary journeys, also illustrated with maps. We will examine the four Gospels, including a discussion of when each was most likely written. The course then moves into the early Church period, surveying influential Christian figures from the first through the fifth century, and exploring how they shaped the development of Christianity and contributed to the formation of the final New Testament canon.
