This educational session helps individuals understand hearing loss and its impact on healthy aging while building confidence to advocate for their hearing health. Participants will learn about cochlear implants and other implantable solutions beyond traditional hearing aids, including benefits such as improved speech clarity, better communication in noise, and enhanced quality of life. Attendees will explore available resources and next steps in care. A medical team from a local ENT practice will be present for a live Q&A. The session will be on July 27.

You’ll learn three to four essential stitches, then use your new skills to create a charming, one-of-a-kind mini creation. All materials are provided, but feel free to bring your own favorites if you have them. All levels are welcome—just bring your curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to fall in love with stitching! This welcoming, beginner-level course helps learners build confidence using provided computers, smartphones, and essential online tools. Over 10 weeks, students will learn how to use devices, set up accounts and manage passwords, send and receive email, navigate the internet safely, use social media, complete online forms, shop and bank online securely, and access helpful digital resources. Smartphone basics such as texting, calling, and using apps are also included. A skills checklists will guide learning and assess progress. Students who successfully complete the course may check out a computer from the FLI Lending Library for home use. This course is free due to a generous grant from the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County. This class meet twice a week on Wednesday and Thursday.

Everyone has a story worth telling, but many people don’t know where to begin. This class is designed to help you reflect on your life experiences, identify meaningful moments, and start putting your story into words. Through guided prompts and simple exercises, you’ll begin capturing memories, lessons, and ideas that matter to you. No writing experience is needed. This is a supportive, engaging space focused on getting started, not perfection. Please bring a notebook or laptop for writing. This session will take place on July 27 at St. Paul's.

In this narrative approach to processing the loss of a loved one, participants will follow weekly prompts to tell the life story of the person they lost. In session 6, they’ll describe a tribute project (biography, artwork, composition, slide show, planting, tribute tattoo). Each session is a step in the healing process. With a focus on integrating memories in new ways, this transformative experience requires a commitment to all 6 sessions. Open only to those addressing the loss of a loved one (not job loss, pet loss, etc.)
